Beautiful Shuswap Lake is a natural lake located less than two hours from Vancouver. It can provide the ideal setting for a perfect boating vacation. The lake is protected by the mountains and remains calm most of the time. Although the lake is deep, the temperature is very pleasant for swimming and can warm up to 23C during July and August. If you like to fish, Shuswap Lake offers anglers a great time to catch lake trout, rainbow trout, kokanee, and salmon in early spring/late fall.
Sicamous Houseboats provides free access to the Provincial Parks on the Lake and now has high-speed internet access on all its boats. Its excellent and very informative website will answer most of your questions.
Houseboats
Sicamous Houseboats offer a large number different models of houseboats that can accommodate anywhere from 10 to 30 people and certainly meet your needs. With so many great models to choose from and a long list of amenities it is best to check out their website for all the details. Experience Required
Previous experience is not required. You will be provided full instruction on operating the houseboat, safety requirements, and understanding the lake. Persons renting and operating the houseboat must have a valid driver's license and be at least 19 years of age (25 years of age for the Legacy class houseboats).
Licensing
You do not require a boating license (Pleasure Craft Operator Card) to rent a houseboat. Before departure, you will receive a safety checklist for review. Be sure to ask any questions if you are not sure. Once completed, you will be issued a temporary license that is good for your trip. You will need to keep this document readily available if officials request it.

Linens
It is suggested that you bring your own linens and pillows. Sicamous Houseboats can rent linens if required. You should discuss this at the time of reservation.
Pets
Cats and small dogs are permitted. To avoid disappointment, discuss the pet policy at the time of reservation.
Additional Costs
There are a number of additional costs that you should budget for during your vacation, and they will depend on the duration of your trip and the distance travelled. Each operator has different policies and should be discussed directly with them. Some costs will or may include:
