Kipawa Houseboats were located on Kipawa Lake, north of Temiscaming, Quebec, approximately four hours north of Toronto. This beautiful area provides rustic beauty where you will be able to enjoy peace and quiet and enjoy amazing fishing for lake trout, pike and walleye. You will be able to experience sandy beaches and hiking through the trails. During the evenings you may be lucky enough to experience the northern lights while listening to the quiet sounds of the wilderness.
Since Kipawa Lake is a series of smaller lakes there are many areas to explore. To assist you the boat comes equipped with a GPS.
Houseboats
There are two houseboats available that can accommodate up to 8 people comfortably and have a fully equipped kitchen, furnace, waterslide and BBQ. A full list of what is included is available on their website.
Rental Periods
Rentals are based on a per day basis with a minimum rental period of 4 days.
Experience Required
Previous experience is not required. You will be provided instruction on operating the houseboat, safety requirements, how to read maps etc. The captain of the boat must be 21 years of age or older.
Licensing
You do not require a boating license (Pleasure Craft Operator Card) to rent a houseboat. Prior to departure you will be provided a safety checklist for review. Be sure to ask any questions if you are not sure. Once completed you will be issued a temporary license that is good for your trip. You will need to keep this document readily available if request by officials.

There are a number of additional costs that you should budget for during your vacation and will depend on the duration of your trip and the distance traveled. Each operator has different policies and should be discussed directly with them. Some costs will or may include:

Local Weather
May to October weather for Lake Kipawa, Quebec, in half-month steps (days 1–15 and 16 through the end of the month). Air, precipitation, and wet days use nearby Barrage Témiscamingue observations, about 12 km away (climate ID 7080468).
- Each tile is one half-month from May through October. Early is days 1–15. Late is day 16 through the end of the month. Every tile shows a value.
- Air temperature, precipitation, and wet-day percentage are 2021–2025 daily averages from Environment and Climate Change Canada, Barrage Témiscamingue (climate ID 7080468). High and low are the average of each year’s half-month mean, so each year counts equally. A year is included for a variable only when that half-month was observed on at least 80% of its days. Precipitation is the mean of each included year’s half-month total; missing days are not filled in. A wet day has at least 0.2 mm, among precipitation observations in the years included for that half-month. Days flagged missing are left out.
- Every half-month has observations on at least 80% of its days, so all five years are included. The largest gap in an included half-month is 3 days, in early June 2025.
- Precipitation is liquid equivalent (rain plus the water in any snow), in millimetres per half-month.
- Sunshine is not biweekly. Daily climate data for Barrage Témiscamingue does not include bright sunshine. Each month’s existing normal is repeated on both of that month’s tiles. Those hours are 1971–2000 normals from the same station (climate ID 7080468). The 1991–2020 normals do not publish that row, and 1981–2010 normals were not calculated for it. Those hours are not a 2021–2025 average.
- Tile temperatures are rounded to the nearest degree.
